Phil Steele has a nice page showing his current bowl projections. What I like is it shows the individual bowl payouts. What you don't know is if the payout is a guaranteed amount or in the form of tickets.

TEXAS Bowl has a $1.2 Million MORE payout than the NOLA Bowl!
1. We don't have a tie in to the texas bowl
2. That is the payout agreed upon by the conferences that are tied in, we wouldn't get that much In the crazy miracle we would get an early invite
3. We were in talks with the independence bowl but the Nola bowl paid us more... The payout for the independence bowl is 1.1 million..... Explain that
I like the bowls but you know what...it's a racket.
No we did not get the ECU tickets, we just got more of the tickets not reserved for the schools. UL sold more than 21K tickets, I am thinking around 23 plus. All that money went to UL, until Benson and the rest of the SBC welfare mothers took a cut. The net effect was we lost a lot of the profit we made the prior year with even more tickets sold though UL.
I know how it works, explain that was rhetorical. I don't understand what other people don't understand about how it works. They just yell out the words "better bowls" and "higher payout" but don't know how you get to that point. People don't understand tie ins and contracts.
