A Beatable Big 10 opponent instead of Mobile would be great. But until the call comes it is New Orleans or nothing IMO.

Phil Steele has a nice page showing his current bowl projections. What I like is it shows the individual bowl payouts. What you don't know is if the payout is a guaranteed amount or in the form of tickets.

----$500K means that they give us $500K worth of tickets and we keep that money correct??? Well before Obamaing it with the rest---Didn't they send us more tickets after the allotment last year and let us keep part of the revenue???

TEXAS Bowl has a $1.2 Million MORE payout than the NOLA Bowl!

So the Texas Bowl would make an exception for a Sun Belt team if we were 11-2?

    1. We don't have a tie in to the texas bowl
    2. That is the payout agreed upon by the conferences that are tied in, we wouldn't get that much In the crazy miracle we would get an early invite
    3. We were in talks with the independence bowl but the Nola bowl paid us more... The payout for the independence bowl is 1.1 million..... Explain that

How did the Nola Bowl pay us more than the 750 thousand, they must of gave us some of East Carolina's since they did not sell that minimum to get the full payout!

Those payouts are when a conference member with a tie-in is playing. When you have non tie-in teams, the pay out is negotiated. We were not offered 1.1 million from the Independence bowl and would probably not get the same from the Texas bowl either.

We sold more than our allotment and we negotiated more money for additional ticket sales. It was much less than our original allotment but was still enough to make us money.

No we did not get the ECU tickets, we just got more of the tickets not reserved for the schools. UL sold more than 21K tickets, I am thinking around 23 plus. All that money went to UL, until Benson and the rest of the SBC welfare mothers took a cut. The net effect was we lost a lot of the profit we made the prior year with even more tickets sold though UL.

I know how it works, explain that was rhetorical. I don't understand what other people don't understand about how it works. They just yell out the words "better bowls" and "higher payout" but don't know how you get to that point. People don't understand tie ins and contracts.

Sorry, didn't read the progression to your comment.
