LAFAYETTE — Jordy Templet didn’t deserve a loss Sunday afternoon.
But, then again, neither did Southwest Texas State, which had dropped two hard-fought games to Louisiana in rugged weather conditions on Saturday afternoon.
This time, the visiting Bobcats weren’t to be denied, pushing across a run in the top of the 12th inning and making it stand up in a 4-3 decision.
Templet came on for the Cajuns in the sixth inning down 3-2 and shut Southwest Texas down to virtually nothing in seven innings of relief work.
The only problem for the hosts was that they also couldn’t scratch against the Bobcats’ relief corps.
“That says a lot about both teams,” said SWT head coach Ty Harrington. “Both teams went deep into their staffs on a third-game Sunday and dialed up good people.”
