Pretty much. Spent his time the Legislature as a waterboy for Edwin Edwards and John Alario. His name is all over the book "Bad Bet on the Bayou". He then tried to re-brand himself as a "new" reformer Republican and ride the "ethics" wave with Bobby Jindal in 2007, running for his old seat. The voters of his district trusted to put him back in so much, they instead chose Bobby "Don't arrest me for DWI because I'm a legislator" Badon.

Fired off a pretty pointed email to the publisher, and to the editorial editor of the DA this morning. Received a reply back from Judy Bastien, the editorial editor. She told me that Decker's column was his view ALONE and not to be taken as representative of the paper. She also said that she couldn't comment on anything written in the paper, or any headlines used to fan the flames online, AND that we would see an editorial from the publisher this Sunday reflecting the OFFICIAL position of the DA on the name issue. Advertiser admits error / false report about Authement

"While Dr. Authement did say UL needs to be careful, he did not directly say the school had gone too far. In the story, it is clear which words are his. However, a copy editing error led to an inaccurate headline. We've corrected it, and will print a correction in tomorrow's Daily Advertiser. We do strive for accuracy, and regret that error."

After following this for over 30 years these last few days have shown me that people's opinion over this one way or the other is just as strong as ever and makes me feel we still have long way to go.

I won't get into any analogies over it though.

Exactly. Daily Advertiser trolls don't care if you send them letters and emails. That'll only encourage them to keep reporting on this garbage. They WANT a reaction from you that keeps you engaged in what they're printing.

Just tell them to shove it up their ___ and cancel your subscription. It's not like they're reporting stuff you can't read online via either The Advocate or KATC.

So says their SID. One wouldn't think he wouldn't make such a statement without consent of higher ups. Dr. S has a good relationship with the LSU President. Since back in 1984, LSU has become a national brand leader. They know we are not a threat to them any more than Ohio is a threat to Ohio State.
