In the comments section Claire blames the error on an editor rewriting her story. If that us true thus "editor" needs to be outed and fired.

She tries to blow it off as everybody makes mistakes. Sure, we all make typos here. The difference is we are amateurs not alleged professional journalists.

The Late Dr.Vince Marino (Journalism) and Bernard Crocker (communications/News) have to be having a good laugh at this who debacle. Blame it on an editor....Doesn't she mean an intern? No editor for any daily newspaper making $8 an hour could make that sort of error, unless the editor is in another city, like Funroe. Isn't the paper printed there? Hmmm. BTW, canceling a subscription won't do you any good. Gannett is big enough to withstand that, they're getting ready to dish out over a billion bucks for Belo Broadcasting's 12 stations, which include WWL TV in NOLA. Go for the big dollars, get the guys who advertise to stop. An auto dealer or a real estate company would be good places to start. Have them cancel their ad buy, take half the money and reinvest it in other media and the other half goes to RCAF. There are so few readers of that paper (circulation is published on the first few pages) that the lowest rated radio station could make up the impressions in one week. They don't care about the $60 a month you spend, besides that hurts the carrier....but they will implode if 1 advertiser pulls his dollars....

Advertisers will pull their dollars if they see a significant drop in circulation. Point being...if they don't think they are reaching enough of their market due to a lack of DA customers to see and respond to their ads, they will not be able to justify the cost.

Ok, by significant you're talking in thousands? That's what it would take to make a big enough dip in the circulation to derail an advertisers anticipated ROI using the paper. Nationwide, papers are hurting because there are other places for folks to go to get information. The trouble is that all of these ADS have yet to reach a critical mass (in most areas) and its difficult to monitize ADS as there is very little agreement in the industry on how to measure usage so large advertisers can justify the investment. Traditionally studies show that there is significant loss of consumer recall of a newspaper ad vs electronic media. Besides, I'm talking about the advertisers who spend 60-120k or more a month in TDA, not the corner store....Got to think big

The ULS tried to straighten her out. You know Thomas Jefferson helped write the US constitution. I am pretty sure I recall he lost a legal argument as president if my memory serves me right. Hell how could that happen he wrote the constitution?

Jefferson was envoy to France when the constitution was written, he had no input on that document.

The editor in question owned up to it in the comments section to the story on line. That is if you consider "YIKES" owning up to it in a professional manner.

And the editor in question is from Fairbanks, Alaska. Her Facebook profile and photos seem to indicate she is a Michigan State fan (alum?). Guess that explains the paper's lack of support.

Jefferson was envoy to France when the constitution was written, he had no input on that document.

He is considered key to the adopting of the Bill of Rights as the first 10 Ammendments to the Constitution, through his writings during that timeframe. Although not present at the Convention, he played that critical role. That does not constitute "no input on that document".
