Jordan Jackson looks back on college career

"It's time for me to face reality." That reality is that Jordan Jackson's football playing career is coming to an end. So when the former Bunkie two-sport star walks onto Cajun Field this Saturday in front of dozens of family and friends for Senior Night, it will likely be his last time in a uniform. Jackson, who once was named the Class 3A All-State MVP in football, will soon hang up his cleats. Saturday will be the final chapter in a playing career that started off promising and in some people's eyes is ending below expectations. Jackson was a phenomenal athlete during his years at Bunkie High School. A three-time all-state selection, Jackson was named Defensive MVP his junior season in 2001 when he had an astonishing 11 interceptions. Jackson started for the first three years of Bunkie's eventual four-year streak as undefeated District 3-3A champions. He still holds the school record for most career interceptions (22) and interception returns for touchdowns (6). In addition to his defensive skills, Jackson also had good enough hands to be the Panthers' leading receiver, catching 31 passes for 624 yards and nine touchdowns in his junior and senior seasons. I really enjoyed the article. I hope Jordan has alot of success outside of football. The only problem in the article is the part where they call Bustle "Jerry Bustle", but outside of that, I thought it was a well composed fluf peice.

Good Luck to Jordan. I thought he was going to have a breakout year this year. But for some reason, it just did not happen.

I would love to see a 100 yard receiving game tomorrow night.

The night he caught that touchdown catch I saw him downtown to congratulate him. I am glad that he will graduate from this great university. I would not be surprised if he was on the Bunkie coaching staff one day.

Nice article. I am sorry his career here was less than stellar. He sounds like a great kid. I am glad he felt good about his choice of college. Best of luck to Jordan in his future. The article also illuminates the obstacles UL faces in recruiting in-state players.

I know this question is a little out of left field but did anybody ever find themselves asking this question? He was regarded pretty highly coming out of high school and I believe he had committed to Oklahoma St. but I'm not sure. Anyway, he ended up at UL and essentially went unplayed for 3 or 4 years. He finally saw the field this year a little and when thrown to him, he produced. In case you haven't seen him, he's about 6'7 and pretty fast along with the ability to really jump. Regardless of conference, this has to be a major matchup problem for almost any CB. We threw a great fade pass to him in the Ohio game and the defender was helpless. With all of our receivers small by most standards, he would have been a great matchup throughout the year. Let's not forget, we are not exactly stacked at WR. Besides Smith, I wasn't extremely impressed with our athleticism and hands at the position. Anyway, it means nothing now that he is graduating but I just question our coaches and their ability to find match-up advantages that actually help our team.

I never thought Jackson went all out. He looked to be running 3/4 speed and often would not come up with the big catch. The few practices I went to he was the last skill player to finish sprints, kind of dogging it.
I will say he was one of the biggest disappointments since I been watching UL. He was a 3 star by rivals and also rivals had him rated the 30th best athlete in the country. He was also all state on both offense and defense. At 6'7 I had high expectations for him.

By "coming up with the big catch" , do you mean practice? Because he didn't play enough to be put in that situation and that was kind of my point. I have no idea what his practice habits were like but the shear size advantage has to put him on the field at least in certain situations

Jordan Jackson was a game day player not a practice punk. It wasn't attitude, he had a great attitude as you can see from his interview. Jordan Jackson caught a pass in every game he played this year. The only problem was we hardly threw to him. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/players/103198
