what can we learn from this? i'm not really too sure. it's no surprise all of the big time programs are the ones bringing in all of the money, but how do you get a school like ours up there?

This is blasphemy. Many on this board have completely dispelled the myth of money and football success being inter-related. I haven't even heard of 3/4 of these programs. I do not believe most have ever seen the Top 20 in their best years. This clearly illustrates that there is no link whatsoever to money and winning in football.

I think a high school team could beat most of these schools if the coach and players "wanted" it enough. It just takes "wanting" really, really hard and you will win. Oh, and clicking your heels together three times has also proven helpful. They say if you repeat "I think I can, I think I can... " over and over, that helps a lot too.

I was channel surfing yesterday and found the Ohio State weekly show. Yea they spent some time talking football, but they also talked about all the things OSU football does for the people of Ohio, and there is a lot of good will being bought for their team that flies with the NCAA.

And I am certain that our new friends at Ohio University were throwing up when they saw that too.

He who has the money makes the rules. "Money" does not just tender direct purchases of materials. It buys fans thru advertisement, marketing and the like. Anyone who does not understand economics and capitalism hasn't been paying much attention to the world around them.

I believe in what I love. I do not love money. But, I do love the things money can do for what I love.

I don't think it's any surprise what money does for a football program. However, there are ways to get that money that have not been utilized at UL. Another interesting point. I watched real Sports the other night and the program just happened to be about the money of sports. The big donors have a whole lot to say about the team they support and is that really what we want or need in college football? Seems to be where the trend is heading. Someone with a whole lot of money calling the shots in a college football program...to me that isn't right. To me...it's getting out of hand. Hey JMO. Happy Turkey Day!
