he was offered by baylor and nebraska and chose us!! good job robert lee! we sure are taking on some height. wouldn't it be great if they could all play? coach lee might even have the luxury of putting the red shirt on a couple of freshmen signees and begin to stockpile some talent. now wouldn't that be a change for the better?
Lee should redshirt Courtney Wallace or Tyren Johnson maybe even both. Adeife will be eligible after the fall semester and I think Barr, Ferguson, and Batiste should suffice at the 4 and 5 with a little help from Gary at the 4 for those first 5 or 6 games until Adeife comes in. I really hope Tyren Johnson gets to redshirt a year because I think he will develop into a great all around player in his 4th and possibly 5th years.
Lago is another possibilty to redshirt, as he will probably be the 3rd PG behind Daigle and Mccoy, but with Daigle's health issues Lee may want to keep 3 on the roster.
Cajunsmike, One reason i was thinking Johnson may redshirt is that after Adeife becomes eligible both he and Barr might be starting. Do you know if these guys are strictly centers or could you see a scenario in which they might both be on the floor at the same time?
In my opinion if Johnson isn't playing 20+ minutes a game he should be redshirted. I say this because all the big men on the team next year will be juniors so that would leave a huge hole in the roster after the 09-10 season. I would just hate to see what would be a senior season for talented guys like Daigle, Gradnigo, Bureau, Gary, and Dison to be wasted cause there was no experienced big men on the roster.
Maybe I'm thinking too far ahead but with no freshmen coming this year and possibly next I would just like to see the roster staggered out a bit more.
I think it is possible Adeife and Barr will be on the court at the same time. I also think it is possible you could see Johnson on the court at the same time as those two. Johnson can play small forward as well as power forward. Same goes for LaRyan Gary. Johnson will play well more than 20 minutes per game next year.
