Unfortunately, text on a message board doesn't necessarily convey agreement.

    I absolutely agree with you.

The development process isn't there to be inhibit development or give people jobs. Its there to make sure my proposed development doesn't impact everyone else's existing place in the mosaic.

Since you seem to know about the retention ponds, answer this:
What is the responsibilty of the business to maintain the retention pond as a viable water handling feature once the thing is built at the businesses expense? The retention pond at the fire station on Verot can no more hold a bucket of water much less drainage overflow. It does however have very pretty cat-tails and misc. debris. One of the hospitals on Amb Caffery HAD a retention pond right next to their parking lot which has since become nothing more than a slight land impression due to years of grass cutting and leaving the clippings on the ground, hense building up the ground.

So, why does the city force businesses to spend money for retention ponds to only see them disappear??

Is there a city drainage engineer that should monitor this and ensure the area designated for retention ponds are maintained to fulfill their functions or is this just another hidden city tax that businesses have to pay to do business in Lafayette?

DQ has some competition coming...kudos to the New Orleans Levee publication

McDonald’s is debuting its new Matty Melt, a cheesy, meatless and scorched sandwich, in honor of struggling Atlanta Falcons’ quarterback Matt “Matty Ice” Ryan.

McDonald's new Matty Melt is a cheesy, meatless and burnt homage to struggling Atlanta Falcons' quarterback Matt "Matty Ice" Ryan.
The quarterback has gone by the nickname “Matty Ice” since high school for his reputation of keeping his composure under pressure, but has rattled off a series of miscues since throwing an incompletion to end last year’s loss in the NFC Championship game. This season, Ryan has thrown an interception in the end zone to end a Week 1 loss to the division-leading New Orleans Saints, scored only one touchdown in six red zone trips a week ago vs. Miami, and Sunday night threw a pass that was deflected in the end zone to seal a loss to the New England Patriots.

    Now this.

“We have been working on the concept of a Matty Melt since the NFC Championship game interception and the Atlanta Falcons blowing their big lead and losing to the San Francisco 49er’s, but for us, now, the timing couldn’t be better,” company spokesman Randall McDaniel announced Monday. We’re rolling out Matty Melt concept burgers in the New Orleans and Atlanta area markets and we expect big sales from disgruntled Falcons backers and exuberant Saints fans.”

“Heck, we’re confident of a giant sales spike of Matty Melts from Saints’ defensive coordinator Rob Ryan alone,” McDaniel said. “This is a win-win, which, of course, is one more win than the 1-3 Falcons have.”

He said the Matty Melt “concept burger” has been fashioned after the quarterback in that “it is meatless, completely cheesy and the white bread is badly, badly burnt.”

“The name implies that it will be really delicious, but it leaves a truly horrible taste in your mouth and a knot in your stomach and looks worse the more you eat it yet leaves you believing the next one has to be better than the one you’ve just digested, which leads to repeat sales based on false expectations,” McDaniel said. “The difference between the Matty Melt and Matty Ice is that the Matty Melt is less likely disappoint you. We’ve got a winner! McDonald’s, I mean, not Atlanta.”
