No, the regional in Bo's final year when we lost to K-State was in Houston... I am positive on that one.. I was there.. Skipped high school with a bunch of others and drove to H-town... spent the night in Galveston and went skinny dipping in 40 degree weather.... I know too much information..lol... that was the year Sports Illustrated had us on the cover and in the story said if anyone could beat mighty UCLA and Bill Walton it might just be "tiny Southwest Louisiana"... We would have too.. that loss to K-State was pre shot clock era and they controlled the ball and frustrated us for most of the game... We were still within 1 point with K-State shooting a 1 and 1 with maybe 10 seconds left.. they missed and Roy Ebron rebounded... he could not get the outlet to Bo so he started dribbling... got just past half court and threw back to Bo who took two dribbles and nailed what today would be a NBA three pointer.... but it was back court.............. and we lost.. and yea that was the last game before the death penalty
The New Mexico regional was in Howdy Doody (Marty Fletcher)'s reign... not sure of the details but just remember we had a 5 point lead late in the game to go to the sweet sixteen
I was on the cover of that SI.... i have it somewhere but if memory serves it had Bill Walton in the middle of the cover with "spokes" out to 4 teams that were likely to threaten... we were one.. Bo was shooting and if you get a NASA powered magnifier I am in the stands... I think and maintain so anyway..lol.. the red hat i was wearing was clearly visable and I am positive I was the ONLY one in Blackham to wear a red USL hat....lol
See the attached. I think this is the cover you are talking about. Neither.

If you go to view this issue there is a write up concerning U(S)L and their performance in the NCAAs.
Nevermind. Here's the cover from 1972. Ebron it was. Bo's pic was in the article by Curry Kirkpatrick.

Not much information, but pretty cool to see him listed here.

I watched less Hornets basketball than any other 2011 playoff team because of Chris Paul: Every time I watched him, I found myself thinking about Tim Hardaway, Andrew Toney , Sidney Moncrief and any other potential great from my lifetime whose Hall of Fame pass got swiped by an injury. His first step was gone; now he was picking his spots like a savvy veteran, which would be fine if he wasn't 25. I couldn't handle it. Then I got roped into Wednesday's Rockets-Hornets game and, much to my surprise, Paul looked like the old CP3 again. Now I don't know what to think. Was he terrified of reinjuring his knee and just taking it slowly? Does he plan on cranking it up a notch in the playoffs? Was it a one-night thing where his knee felt good and he cut loose? I'm riveted, suddenly.
There are nights when Paul is his old self. This was not the first time this year it happened. That quickness shows up two or three times a month. He is real effective when his jumper falls but he has been inconsistent with it this year. I bet he is even better next season as the knee will have more time to heal. He needs to limit his basketball this offseason and work on more rehabilitation.
The thing I love about Chris Paul is that he is probably the best facilitator in the game right now. He's a master at drawing defenders toward him and passing to the open man. He's not as good and quick as he was and he nay not ever score as many buckets as he used to but he can still rack up assists with the best of em and that can't be underestimated.
Here's a cool article about Paul that shows how important he really is to the hornet's success.
