I understand that, but as I pointed out, our athletic teams still use it as a significant part of some uniforms. They don't wear yellow. If they do start using lots of yellow (hope not), then all these mustard-plastered shirts would make more sense.
Black (and white) is a neutral color added to a number of base school colors. Yellow is an abomination to our vermillion and white. It started with the flame. The flame needs to be eliminated or converted on all logo designs into our colors. Black is perfectly ok. It was even in our signage and everything else way back in the 70s and 80s. It just wasn't as prominent.
I prefer we try to stick with vermillion and white as much as possible... but black is perfectly acceptable. It makes the heavier people in the band look a little bit slimmer. I've even noticed a couple of our Ragin Jazz are taking advantage of black's magic slimmerization.
The fact that it's a "retro" shirt and it has LOUISIANA LAFAYETTE plastered on the front is just gross.
Here is some from their sportsman line, again more Louisiana Lafayette Football, sigh.
Did find another shirt that is more in line with what they should be selling, hopefully they are moving in that direction for all their gear.
The grey "Geaux Cajuns" with the FDL is cool.
I can't wait for "Louisiana Lafayette" to be retro obsolete.
I believe someone has posted before but this new store in River Ranch is very nice. When you walk in the red will immediately hit you. The do carry lsu items but red is the main motif. :>) My wife and each bought shirts and the manager was very helpful. She is a Cajun fan and has tailgated with her dad for years at Cajun Field They will be getting other Cajun designs in the future.
I would recommend this place to all Cajun fans.
