The U.S. Navy Band's jazz ensemble will treat Acadiana to a free concert during UL’s Jazz Week, which will take place Nov. 12-14 in Ducrest-Gilfrey Auditorium in Angelle Hall.
The week will showcase several UL jazz gropus, as well as the U.S. Navy Band’s top jazz group, the Commodores.
All performances begin at 7:30 p.m.
On Nov. 12, the Jazz Guitar Quintet directed by Jeff George, will perform, followed by the university’s small jazz group, Jazz Combo 1, directed by Robert Luckey.
On Nov. 13, Jazz Combos 2 and 3 will perform, directed by Paul Morton and Robert Willey respectively.
The U.S. Navy Band’s jazz ensemble, the Commodores will perform on Nov. 14 and under the direction of Senior Chief Musician Philip M. Burlin. The ensemble includes 18 of the Navy’s top jazz and big band musicians.
The U.S. Navy Band’s jazz ensemble is being co-sponsored by Lafayette Music.
