I think the inflated numbers from last week are sticking in people's minds a bit too much. I don't think Akron will just allow us to run up the middle on them and they will match up a bit better than Nicholls did, especially up front. They have 35 TFL this season and 8 sacks. They are going to be a challenge up front for us and they won't just let us break tackle after tackle for 400+ yards. We will have to throw the ball and do it well for us to keep them off the line. We are also going to have to finally be better on 3rd downs this game as they held Michigan to only 30% there and we can't win with that type of percentage long term.
Right on, they will have a better defense, and that 3rd down conversion is usually a passing play unless it's within a few yards. So we need Broadway to make good reads and hit the open guy, accurately. Of course, we can't have those drive killing drops by the WR's.
As far as the weather, that's my prediction, it's not official. It's raining there now, but looking at the radar, the front should be well passed by game time.

Game day! You looking forward to getting home this week?

I think you're right. But, I'm not so sure until we line up against Akron, how exactly we match up. Will the run open up the pass or will the pass spread them and keep them soft enough to spring the run. Personally, I think Akron's coach will focus on shutting our running game down and invite us to throw. If I were him, that's what I'd do. I kind of expect us to try and establish the run first. But, eventually, we are going to have to mix it up, throw well, and not just on predicable passing downs.

Last week wasn't much of a test for TB and our OL.

Our first three contests were outliers... but Akron kind of let's us see what we are facing with the middle to lower SBC opponents. If we struggle on either side of the line with the Zips, we are going to have some struggles in conference play.

I honestly don't think they will be able to shut our running game down AND keep Broadway contained. We will run successfully, whether its the backs or Broadway. But they could slow us down in one of those facets

You bet buddy. Me too, if I were coaching against us, I would go all in to stop the run. UL has not proven to have a good passing attack yet this year, so stop the run first, then go after Broadway if we try to pass. So, If I'm UL, I would set up success with the pass early, short passes, screens, an occasional downfield pass, to create doubt on the Akron defensive side, not being able to stack up the line. Then use the run to set up the play action.
On ESPN, they just predicted Akron to beat UL. Not happening.

It's a hard one for ESPN to predict. Our first 3 don't define us. Akron's Michigan game is perplexing. It's at Akron. Wet weather in the area. ESPN flips a coin.

Zo and Elijah will continue to impress, the middle should be wide open.
