    Default new committment?

At the bottom of the linked article, there is mention of a new DE commitment out of BR.

I'm not sure about this L. Kelley thing. He hasn't even seen the field yet and I don't know if he has anything that will separate him from Verlin Moore, Marlin Miller or Aubrey or Falgout (who played well last year) so that may be a bit premature.

Johnson, assuming he commits, would be an invaluable addition to our team. He may not start at WR at first but he'd be used on special teams and different formations when we may want to spread the field. I'm just not that optimistic about his signing. _

In the fall the defensive coordinator was panting to get Kelly, but said the offense will keep him. I think that says it all about what his abilities are.

And what are those? Maybe he knew we needed any help possible in our swiss cheese secondary. I don't think that says anything. I'm sure he's talented. Everything I've heard of him is positive. However, does he provide us with anything that isn't already offered by someone else? That is the question I was asking. It seems like a stretch to say that a redshirt freshman will overtake a proven veteran WR when, besides a couple of inches, doesn't seem to have any major advantages over.

Sounds a lot like the commit a few years ago from Hall Davis from Hahnville. Tall and thin. Hall has played sparingly and still probably needs to put on some weight. I want to see some of these other guys in the 6'3" 240-250 range at DE. Maybe he just has an unbelievable motor.

From what I saw in practice Kelley has better hands, fast but not as fast as Chery, runs much better routes, and seems to have it. Just my opinion. Kelley will be a very good reciever over four years and I will say we will see this kid's name in the top ten record books for career marks before his career is over.

    Sounds good.

The best hands on the team belong to Falgout (jmo)

  7. UL Football Ragin' Cajuns of UL gets two more commitments

UL's football team added two Baton Rouge natives to its 2008 recruiting class.

As reported Wednesday afternoon at theadvertiser.com, Ronald Clark, an offensive lineman from Desire Street Academy, and Emeka Onyenekwu, a defensive end from McKinley High, have both committed to sign with the Ragin' Cajuns.

The earliest they can sign a binding letter of intent is Feb. 6.

Neither Clark nor Onyenekwu - both unrated recruits by Rivals.com - could be reached for comment Wednesday.

Clark, who is 6-foot-4, 270-pounds, played on both sides of the ball as a senior and helped lead Desire Street Academy to the Class 1A state semifinals this season. He visited UL's campus two weeks ago.

Even at his height and only 220, OLB or even SS (if fast enough) might be an option.

The DE sounds awful light...will he be a linebacker?
