Did Anthony Laday retract his commitment to UL? I was looking at scout, and it shows him high on McNeese with no interest in UL. Just curious if anyone else noticed that, or if anyone has any info.
He is 6'6", has really big feet, an 80" wingspan, and his 29" vertical allows him to leap over small Volkswagens in a single bound. He is probably the single most improved player in the state this year, his coach certainly thinks so. He is one of those late bloomers that did not have a single offer until the season was over, and based on his play in the last 5 games of the season, currently holds between 5 and 7 offers, depending on who you ask. He will only be 17 when he graduates from HS. This kid has class, comes from a great family, has very good grades, and will likely play in the NFL one day. Be happy!
I will let CajunT get to his story, as we all know, guys with big feet can be hard to catch up with over the holidays.
Unfortunately with the current NCAA rules limiting a coach's ability to talk about a specific recruit, stuff like this actually happens quite often. Kids feel pressure during an interview to start the ball rolling, and say they have an offer here or there. Many kids make such claims in an interview, and maybe sometimes the interviewer is confused. I read an article on a Tulane commit that said he was offered by UL, but in a later interview did not, and the offer never surfaced on either Scout or Rivals.
I have no idea what happened in Anthony Laday's case.
Some kids do the opposite, and never reveal who they got offers from, they just commit. One of the current UL commits has offers from other schools that have never been mentioned in an interview.
So don't believe everything you read, often half the story is not told, or is complete embellishment, sometimes what comes out in the article does not even sound like what the player really said.
