I liked what the coaching staff was doing with Wallace last night. Give him direct snaps puts a little rinkle in the playcalling. I still say that I would like to see Dez all over the field, not just at QB. He is to good of an athlete to keep him at one position. I would probably go as far a saying he is the best athlete to play football for the Cajuns.

The Wallace direct snaps weren't overly productive, but I did like throwing it in the mix. That isn't something we can butter our bread with. I like MD at QB, if the coaches think he is continuing to develop as a QB, and not just a great athlete at QB.

One of our young QBs has to get some planned snaps next year in some complete series, with MD perhaps staying on the field as a slot receiver or backfield (another direct snap option). MD is unique and we only have him for one more year. We absolutely have to work another QB or 2 into the system next year early on.

The direct snaps to Wallace did gain about 7 yards on each play. Not over productive and not overused. I like the mix.

I think we will see Masson mixing in at QB next year. I was watching him warm up again yesterday. Man he throws a pretty ball. He is our QB of the future.

No big deal, but the first 2 direct snaps got less than 2 yards each. The 3rd attempt did pick up close to 7.

I have heard good things about Masson. It is always good to have competition at the QB position.

We have alot to work to do on defense to solidify it next year. On offense, we don't lose alot, next year could be alot like this in that we'll have to score ALOT just to remain competitive.

I agree with your assessments of the DT, DE, and SS positions with the losses of Raymond, Hardaway, and Morgan. However, I think that we are FINALLY going to be solid @ all the linebacker positions. Burkhaulter, Flemming, Fred Davis, and a little Zanders will hopefully sure up the middle of the field for the Cajun defense. Losing Jarrett Jones may not be that huge of a loss because of the young talent we have coming back at CB.

It was only direct snapped to him twice...he gained a little more than 5 yards both times. It was a nice wrinkle for the offense

How about this in 2005 the cajuns won six games with these kids and a share of the conf championship. In 2006 they won six games. Staff change same kids only 3 wins. Offense still ranked amongest nations best. Two 1000 yard rushers. Only one of 4 schools to do it out of 119 this year. The cajuns were alot better in pass defense and defense vs the run last year. Why are people not talking about this. Does anyone else see this. Another fact Ul special teams have blocked more kicks in the last six years than anyone else in college football. While only allowing five blocks against them in six years. Lets see offense good ,special teams ok ,defense ???????????????. Will anyone speak up about this or is everyone scared to talk about there own

I am a member of scout.com, a decision that I am enjoying more everyday. I'm not sold on all this two three star nonsense, I've been having fun seeing good players that are playing now and then going back to see what their ratings were when they were being recruited. I'm only going to list the players that say that we have offered scholarships. Interest may only mean a letter, a visit, a camp visitation; I think if the player has said the school has offered them, its more concrete than just them listing us as an interested school. So here they are.

    FB NR Zeke Jones
    (Springfield HS)
Springfield, LA 5-11/235/4.60 Med Yes Auburn, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, SE Louisiana, Southern Miss

(From what I've read we'd be looking at him to play more at running back)

    FB NR Kasey Stelly
    (St. Thomas More)
Lafayette, LA 6-0.5/220/4.90 Low Yes Tulane, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi, Northwestern, Louisiana, McNeese State

(Has already committed to TULANE, I've seen film and he's got a hell of a motor, but I think his comittment is strong to TULANE)

    C NR Joe Duhon
    (Washington/Marion Magnet HS)
Lake Charles, LA 6-3/290 Verbal Yes Committed to Louisiana

(I've read he was an MVP at an SEC camp somewhere, so my guess is he may have not been a great player but the tools are there)

    K NR Brett Baer
    (Brandon HS)
Brandon, MS 6-0/160 Verbal Yes Committed to Louisiana

(To me Kickers are the hardest thing to recruit, I'm never sold on a kicker until you can rush 11 guys at him and he can kick it just as far as he does when no one is there)

    TE NR Brendan Wilson
    (Dutchtown HS)
Geismar, LA 6-4/232/4.66 Verbal Yes Committed to Louisiana

( From what I've seen, doesn't impress me but, I heard he had a hell of a camp and probably has all the tools. PLUS, Dutchtown has some great talent so he could also be a pipeline guy)

    OG NR Evan Ruiz
    (St. Michael)
Baton Rouge, LA 6-3/280/5.50 Med Yes Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi, Southern Miss, Tulane

(I saw some film, and he's a solid player, nothing fantastic, but solid. Originally gave a verbal to Vanderbilt but changed his mind)

    WR NR Anthony Laday
    (Hightower HS)
Sugar Land, TX 6-1/186/4.50 Verbal Yes Committed to Louisiana

(The film was fuzzy, so I couldn't tell much but, the stats look good)

    WR NR Treyvias Alexander
    (Breaux Bridge HS)
Breaux Bridge, LA 6-1/185/4.50 Med Yes Houston, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Southern Miss

(Good strong talented local guy, I hope we get him but, he's being looked at by alot of big boys)

    WR NR Kevin Barkley
    (Moss Point HS)
Moss Point, MS 6-0/215 Med Yes Florida, Florida State, Louisiana, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Tennessee

(Good solid player, but have read that he's very underrated with huge upside)

    LB NR Lindsey Leavoy
    (St. Michael)
Baton Rouge, LA 6-2.5/244/4.97 Med Yes Air Force, Auburn, Connecticut, Duke, Louisiana, Northwestern

(Would make a great DE, but looks like will committ to Air Force)

    S NR LaQuintin Caston
    (Scotlandville Magnet HS)
Baton Rouge, LA 5-9.5/172/4.69 Med Yes Alabama, Colorado, Louisiana, LSU, Mississippi, SE Louisiana, West Virginia

(Pretty good player for just being listed as a one star, was overlooked because he switched schools from Istrouma to Scotlandville. Would make a hell of a CB, but still has desire to play QB)

    CB NR Johnelle Derouselle
    (Breaux Bridge HS)
Breaux Bridge, LA 6-0/175/4.55 Med Yes Houston, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, North Texas, Southern Miss

(Solid player but, I think looking at him more in order to get the other kid from Breaux Bridge, would love to get a pipeline working there)

    DE JC
    Terrance Conner
    (Coahoma CC)
Clarksdale, MS 6-4/242/4.60 Med Yes Kansas State, Louisiana, Memphis, Mississippi, Mississippi State,

(Good athletic type DE, a little on the small side but, I think he could come in and fit right in.I really hope we are able to snag this guy)

    UL Football Newest Verbal Commitment

Cajuns Get Verbal From Texas Back

    By BJ Thompson
    Cajun RedZone Publisher
    Posted Nov 29, 2007

The Cajun staff was looking to build for the future at the running back position with senior Tyrell Fenroy and junior Deon Wallace returning for the 2008 season. A Texas high school athlete has given the Cajuns another commitment for the 2008 recruiting class.

Conroe running back Draylon Booker has quietly put together a very good season. The 6-0, 190-pound senior was part of a very good tiger backfield the wreaked havoc opposing defenses, that included college prospects Lou Greenwood and DD Johnson.

"It's the strength of our team," said CHS head coach Roger Holtkamp. "Draylon Booker can do some special things on the football field. Draylon is a big, tall, strong runner," he said. "He has a long stride. When he gets going north and south.

They are all 2 star ** recruits. They are not ranked nationally in the Top 100, Top 150.
