I hate to be the bearer of bad news.... I know many have been hot on the recruiting trail, like myself. This class coming in does not seem to be as promising as once thought. A couple of decent corners, Benoit, Ruiz, and Gauthier. Thats about it. Losing those guys late really hurt. Time will tell how good this class will be

  4. UL Football S Day

When pen meets paper today, verbal commitments become official for high school football recruits across the country.

UL added two more names to its 2008 recruiting class on the heels of today's signing ceremonies.

As first reported at theadvertiser.com on Tuesday, Northside cornerback Adrian Breaux and Pierre Hill, a receiver from Archbishop Shaw in Marrero, have committed to play football for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Both are expected to sign a binding letter of intent today with UL.

"I think he's a real player," Northside coach Vincent DeRouen said of Breaux. "He's kind of raw because he was originally a baseball player, but he can cover and comes up and hits pretty good."

At 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, Breaux has the size college coaches want in a cornerback. He's also been timed at 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

Its only not as good if you look at star rankings. This is a really good class...and for the record you mention Benoit but I dont think he is even a top 15 member of this class.

I couldn't agree more. I think this class can be solid but I'm just not as excited. Especially with the uncertainty with Glazer. He is the big piece in my opinion. We have several guys who are looking to play different positions as in Osbourne and Wilson along with Melvin White and Benoit. I think one person that is a sleeper in the class is D. Booker. We are going to need some depth and talent at RB and he is tall and will likely put some nice beef on his frame in the near future. It would have been a special class with Ambrose and/or D.Johnson.

I missed the announcement, what position is Wilson going to play?

Wilson wasn't mentioned as a possbile candidate to move to another position. He is a TE period. You missed the fun!

What you think of the class CajunT?

I like it, alot! It addressed the need of speed on defense and I like the big WR from Florida.

Well we loose Luther Ambrose and Damarius Johnson, but you get steals in Green and White from Florida. If Galzer returns later this summer, then the class is solid. I fully expect the staff to look for another late spring graduate from the Juco DL ranks.

Strength of the 2008 Class is the group of DB's, a lot of speed and athletic ability in this group.

    Gillis
    Jackson
    Sowels
    Brantley
    White

    My Sleepers

    Dean
    Green
    Ruiz
    K.White

What's the word on Beal? Also, what is the status of the kid from Northside HS? Why do you think we lost Ambrose to ULM? I never felt we had much of an inside track on D. Johnson. I always had a sense that he was aiming for Memphis. I was a bit surprised that he went to Tulsa instead. But I thought we were a fall-back for him in case he didn't get the offer from one of his top 2 or 3 schools.

Beal is gone, a few courses were not accepted by the NCAA, and we been there before.
