I am far from a recruiting guru.. Dont subscribe to Rivals.com... Dont understand the star system.. What I DO understand is that the people we are chasing and getting are apparently not worthy of any othe D-I programs. When I measure the value of a recurit committment I look to see we signed people who considered at a minimum, La Tech, So Miss, Tulane... a few that drew offers from SEC schools... maybe every now and again a Brian Mitchell type steal away from A&M@BR... But geez.. Big headline.. We won a recruiting war with Southeastern and Nicholls State...

Oh yea.. and we are young...

OkOk... I'll wait and see where the rest of recruiting goes but had to vent....
I hear you, but don't kid yourself. If he were 6'2 or 6'4 he wouldn't be in the state. Well, maybe Baton Rouge.

JaMarcus Russell completed 219-of-372 for 3,332 yards and 22 touchdowns his senior year in High School.

Blaine Gauthier completed 199 of 359 for for 2,865 yards with 31 touchdowns his junior year in High School.

Blaine Gauthier is a Drew Brees sized QB that wants to play close to home, Drew Brees decided to play 1200 miles from home. He is a kid with character that will do the right things on and off the field. He is a student of the game, with an impressive work ethic.

    Be happy!

I understand where youre coming from, but this kid in particular will be good. Go watch his highlight films on rivals.com

you make good points but I think with him it is definitely his size that is limiting his offers. Central Mich. has contacted him and I have a lot of respect for their program. I watched Jr film on Gauthier on rivals last year and I told myself this is a kid we have to go after. He fits our system perfect and he has a lot of talent. Stats dont mean much because their are a lot of talented kids without big stats but his stats or impressive.

JR type numbers and the best offers he got other than us was D-2 or whatever that division is called nowdays??

Look I hope the kid is great.. I remember a young QB that was not highly recruited by the name of Jake Delhomme.. Kid had a decent career :-) Im not down on the kid.. I'm down on what it seems our focus is not... not chasing bigger time athletes...

Au contraire, mon frere....or something like that....

The Curry kid from Texas has his eye on us. He is a 3 star QB from Tejas. Lots of folks on him, he has a soft commit to UTEP. He really liked his visit here, and performed well at camp. Time will tell.

I'm very geeked about the kid from Lutcher. My concern is not with the athletes that we are recruiting, but with the inability of the coaching staff to use them properly. As much as I hated last season and think that we need a new coach, I am pumped about next year.

Are we not in need of Linebackers and Dlinemen? Everything seems to be on the offensive side. ?????
