Treyvias is a hell of an athlete, but he is not even close on his ACT. His best case scenario would be JC or Prep school. Johnelle is about 50/50 right now, so the Cajun staff is still tripping him.

Good news. I'm hoping (probably against hope) that Damaris Johnson is going to be on that list. His presence alone on the team next season would guarantee at least two more wins, in my opinion. He's got the ability to be that kind of difference maker in our offense.

  8. UL Football Weekend Visits

This weekend will be a big one for UL football recruiting.

Destrehan's all-purpose back Damaris Johnson and safety Chris Richard, Elysian Fields (Texas) High's quarterback Tim Curry, St. James' all-purpose back Luther Ambrose, New Orleans McDonogh 35's defensive tackle Derreck Dean and St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) High's defensive back Rodney Gillis are among the prospects expected to visit UL's campus.

Johnson, rated a four-star recruit and the nation's No. 31 athlete by Rivals.com, said his recruitment remains open. He holds scholarship offers from Illinois, Memphis, Southern Miss, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois and all the state schools but LSU. He plans to visit Memphis next weekend.

A two-star prospect by Rivals.com, Richard said earlier in the week he would visit Louisiana Tech this weekend.

Curry, a UTEP commitment rated the nation's No. 30 pro-style quarterback by Rivals.com, visited UL-Monroe last weekend.

    Ambrose is a three-star recruit and the nation's No. 36 all-purpose back by Rivals.com.

Dean has already committed to sign with UL.

According to Rivals.com, Gillis is a two-star recruit and holds offers from UL, Iowa, Toledo and Central Michigan. He visited Toledo last week and plans to visit Iowa next weekend.

The Cajuns entered this week with 12 players in their 2008 recruiting class, including verbal commitments from eight high school seniors. They plan to sign 23 to 24 players on Feb. 6, the first day high school recruits can sign a binding letter of intent.

Agree totally. I saw a story on Ambrose last night on the news too, that kid can play.

I guess Chris Richard decided to visit us instead of La Tech this weekend? Maybe Damaris Johnson talked him into it.

I think we have a legitimate shot at getting ambrose. Ole' Miss is looking at a lot of RB's and there are a number of them listed higher than Ambrose that look like they might give their word. I think with Fenroy being a senior and Wallace a junior, Ambrose might just be interested.
