That is correct. But, this kid is a very solid take for UL, if he signs. Lutcher booster friends of mine (and these people are very serious about their football) told me that he is an extremely good player. Lutcher faced some defenses that dwarfed them this year. Their OL could not handle some of the DL they faced. Blaine would still manage to complete passes and take a major league pop. What Lutcher fans liked most about him was his toughness. He would jump right back up and go right back at em. They said it was surprising how big he plays for his size. He is not going to "show up" on major out of state talent sheets. We are getting a really QB in Blaine.
I liken it to a St. Charles Catholic friend of mine that could not believe UL snagged Fenroy. He told me prior to me ever seeing Tyrell on the field that Fenroy was a superstar that could have played for any of the top 20 teams in the US. The deciding factor was when he was sized up by the heralded media types that run around with a measuring stick, his "dimensions" didn't catch the BCS schools' attention.
I would much rather an undersized superstar than some of the "stat sized" people that coaches tend to pick up... that later look like they are wading thru knee deep mud on the field.
I like one more thing... the buzz in the river parishes is that UL likes their players. We are building a pipeline in that area... and that cannot hurt.
Didn't UL sign a "stat size" QB outta texas that bombed out pretty bad?
Let me set the record straight for you on Gautier. The reason he has only one Div1A offer, is because he refused to take an offer at another position. Both Central Michigan and Memphis visited him in home and he refused to accept an offer at another position. They both pulled their offers after the in home meeting with Gautier and his father. The Cajuns were willing to make that commitment to his father.
It seems to me that this staff was criticized for not offering a another undersized QB locally that played at a lower level and statistic weren't even at close. But heck, didn't that kid come into Cajun Field and lead his team to a victory. Forget about who offered Gautier, he can play at our level. There are more then a few skilled athletes in the SLC that could compete in the Sun Belt. Our problem is on the defensive side of the ball.
Look I know nothing about this kid and I do hope he is all that and a bucket of... whatever the kids say..lol.. But I stand by my comment... We should be competing with bigger schools than SE and Nichols.. Maybe this kid will be the next Brian Mitchell...
But if we are going to venture into places like Tennessee and not want to get embarrassed we need kids who are highly recruited. If we are going to year in and year out be competing for a SBC championship...If we want this program to be other than a middle of the road in the worst conference in America... dang-it we have to start DEMANDING better..... Whats wrong with that concept??????
