MOSS POINT --Wide receiver Kevin Barkley is making the most of his second chance at Moss Point.
Barkley missed the last three games in 2006 after getting into a violent fight. The incident involved one of Barkley's cousins, whom he defended.
The time away from the game allowed Barkley to grow and develop both as a player and person. He returned to school and rejoined the team.
"At first, it didn't look like I would be getting a second opportunity to play at Moss Point," Barkley said. "I learned that I have to think before I react. I also realized that it's not about me. I went to alternative school. I missed out on stuff. I had to get my act together. My attitude was real, and I changed it."
Barkley credits Tigers coach Jerry Alexander for helping him through the difficult time.
"I didn't have anyone on my side until Coach Alexander came out of nowhere to help me out," Barkley said. "Our relationship changed after that. It went from being a player-to-coach to like my second father."
