I think we may crack 40, but I also believe we will run the living snot out of the ball against Nicholls. We'll eat up a lot of clock and pound their DL in order to completely hammer them in the remaining third of the contest. We do need give TB some confidence boosting pass completions, but for the most part... I think we hand the pill to the RBs and work that part of our game.
Defensively, you can see where coaches would debate whether we should "prevent" or "invent". I vote for "invent". We need to invent a dominate defense. I'd rather school young secondary athletes against Nicholls in playing toe to toe and correct mistakes as we go, than to have them play 10 yards off a man because they might get lost in some coverage scheme. Screw that. Let's teach our DBs to be blankets of paint on receivers and our safeties to be ball hawks and bell ringers. I'd also like to find a LB in our platoon that knows how to penetrate a gap and brutally violate a QB. And if the QB/RB happen to be standing in the same shadow at the time, he eliminates their ball transfer for a fumble grab and go to pay dirt. Oh yeah...
UL goes +2 on turnovers, we win by 20+.......
UL 44
NSU 13
With Harris sore......really would like to see a lot of Elijah this week too.
Cajuns win 45-21.
49-24 Cajuns...Over by halftime and Broadway back in a confident demeanor. McGuire takes the reigns and pops off 150 and 2-3 tds. Jamal Robinson earns the right to show his abs with a big night of being the electric wide receiver we all know the dude is capable of. The defense gets a much needed shot in the arm by playing the team from Thibodeaux and gives up 10 in the first half. Backups come in for the second half and I head out during the 3rd quarter for Deano's.
56- 21
UL ------------>48
Nicholls ------>17
