We will be alright IF we start playing 4 quarters of Football, Hudsbeth Style!
Keep it quiet!!! I was working on a group rate for anyone that felt the need to go jump off a cliff in the Rockies. I was just going to go to see the Aspens changing color...
All kidding aside, great post. Says it all. WE got beat by better teams. WE got paid. Kick some Nicholls butt this week, all will be fine.
So RC90, is that what you think the team and it's fans should strive for? Only beating the teams you are suppose to beat and not expect anymore than that? Hmmm, that's nice. How do you think you ever get to the point where you are favored when you play a good opponent? You honestly think it's from winning games against lesser teams all the time? No, you become the favored, when you prove you are better than expected. As much as some (not really you) are shocked at fans showing disappointment, I hate complacency. I want our team to rise above the low expectations some place on them. I think the coaches and players want it too. I think some fans are behind the curve.
Some people want just as soon as these big game losses are over... to rapidly convert the fan flock to be docile and ambivalent. We don't even get the 24 hours after a game to kick and scream anymore, before Gandhi steps in and wants us to put flowers in our hair, hold hands and sing lullabies.
My take is that our coaches get to yell at the players all week, every week. Once games start, we are bound by fan law to yell at coaches to get their bugs worked out. The day someone tells me that isn't my right... if I don't manage to jaw jack them and keep on keeping on... I don't want any connection to what will then become a hollow losing program. The coach that doesn't want our criticism is an idiot. What he doesn't want is our apathy.
I'm not yelling "The sky is falling!". I'm yelling "Tackle that __!". There's a difference!
We are where I thought we would be at this point in the season. The last Arkansas coach that lost to a Sunbelt team got fired. I didn't think that was going to happen two years in a row. I felt like we could have won the Kansas State game if they had not lost last week. There was no way they were not going to be ready.
Look man, I wanted us to be 2-0 at this point. I thought we had a legitimate shot at it. I really thought we would at least split the two games. You know what? I was wrong. As much as we would love to be, we are not there yet. The folks calling for Hud's head and getting down on the team and players I think is childish at this point. I didn't direct this to you or any one poster for that matter. There are a few that are acting like the season is over. It's time to put it behind us and put on our big girl panties. We have a lot of football still left. We have still have a chance to do some things that we've never done before like win the conference outright.
There is a difference between losing and not playing your best. I can accept putting out our very best effort and coming up short. I cannot accept not doing well in the areas we have control over. I hope that difference in content of fan forum discussion is accepted as a common fan (even a good fan) practice. I certainly understand and accept it. To say you are all bent out of shape because we lost those two games... is silly. But, I'd like to see UL... at some point in this program growth... do some of the things that so many other mid majors have done. They have played season openers, mid season, and season ending games against top 25, much less not-top-25 BCS programs... and not just won... but presented a prepared plan to take on that challenge for a full 60 minutes.
I expect our rising program to make any contest... and I mean "any" contest... in football... a contest.
No one on this board has called for Hud's head. That is rediculous.
I see what people mean when they say starting 0-2 is not that big of a deal. I agree.
What is a big deal is the loss yesterday was not about Kansas State. The big deal is that any team in the country could have played pitch and catch against that soft coverage the Cajun Defense came out with the last two weeks.
Dude, just stop. You are not the president of this forum. We can how we want to talk. No one, and I mean no one on here has "called for Hud's head". You are actually the pot stirrer since last night. Stop trying to be mother Teresa and be realistic. If you HONESTLY aren't the least bit worried about any of our conference games coming up, then you don't know football
