    Answer:

    Nobody.

You don't simply replace one of the most talented hitters in school history.

Normally, pitching is everything. But, for the Cajuns, this season, we will only go as for as our hitters take us.

i'm sorry but your crazy, take moody, buddy and danny away and give us lucroy back and we would be in a whole world of hurt. lucroy was great but you can't replace an entire rotation as good as that one and expect the hitters to carry you. We don't play gorilla ball, we win by pitching and defense. thats what robe coaches. one good hitter cant turn over an entire line up. yes lucroy came through huge alot of times for us last year but the pitching staff is what got us where we went

Spring will be sweet for the Cajuns.

I also think Harst will see some time behind the plate but Harst may end up making a move like Tatford did at UL but wherever Harst ends up he will be a great asset to this loaded cajuns squad _
In time, unless Lucroy gets to the biggies and makes a name for himself, he will be forgotten. But in the meantime he will be the standard that will apply to the UL catching position.

If he makes it big in the Majors, he will be like Ron Guidry and never completely forgotten.

Some may forget. Plenty will not. Jon can play. He's certainly proven that. He's a long time from being done playing, but how far he goes has nothing to do, and is unrelated, with what he did with a pepper on his sleeve. He has nothing left to prove athleticly. He played for UL like his hair was on fire.

You miss my point. It's not an either/or situation.

Our pitching is going to be GREAT.

Our hitting may or may not be a problem which is why I said we will only go as far as they take us.

My guess would be Lafleur and possibly Harst if he picks up the pitching scheme. I haven't seen any freshman during Robe's time who picks up the game management required, including Jon. He was a DH with some spot midweek catching as a freshman, with Cap (Justin Morgan) handling the regular duty. My guess would be Griffin will serve as a DH, or possibly a outfield position. Don't forget Scott Hawkins, who was a catcher coming out of high school and the 75th rated player at any position his senior year of High School. With Scott it's all about how well his throwing arm has recovered.

  8. UL Baseball Filling in Lucroy's shoes

I haven't been doing my baseball homework as well as many of you (softball is stealing the spotlight). So I've been wondering who is going to fill in as our #1 catcher. Hawkins should be our man, right? Those are awfully big shoes to fill!...oh, and while we're on the subject, can someone make baby Robicheaux a permenant spot on the field, he swings a bad bat!

Hawkins, While deadly at the plate, hasn't had that much experiance in college behind it. With how much emphasis robe puts on being able to call a quality game, youll look for either Lefleur to take over, or the freshman Thad Griffen to take over with Hawkins manning is ussual DH spot.
