you guys are making the right points. would he have chosen us over state anyway? doubt it. and, we likely were already set at that position and may have needed the scholarship for another player.

and, didn't the article say that bustle pulled the scholarship when he found out about his size? does anyone think that bustle wouldn't have known everything about his size before offering him? i'm sure that even if someone told bustle that he had 4.3 speed, he would have still gotten some film to watch his to start recruiting him. that statement in the article just doesn't make any sense. But if holliday needs to have some sort of resentment towards us to get his rox off, then whatever. its not like he's gonna be the every down back for us either. fenroy would have still been our guy

ABSOLUTELY...a coach would NEVER offer a player he hadn't seen play..it could be on a tape..but he's seen him play!!!

Hell even Miles didn't know what to do with him at first.

We need bigger, faster Defensive ends, bigger faster linebackers, bigger faster offensive linemen.......that is what we need to focus on. LSU can afford to take chances with 5'5" speed freaks.

Of course we could use him but the point is moot anyway, if you are Trindon Holliday do you take the UL offer or the LSU offer? No brainer for a track standout and football player from Zachary. We could have offered him three schoarships and it wouldn't have mattered. _
His older brother played DE at UL under Baldwin. He was well known by certain members of the staff. In fact, he was offered because a assistant had recommended him to Bustle.

I remember reading articles during recruiting and even if he didn't get to play football at lsu he was going to go run track there before going anywhere else to play football.

I heard Bo Jackson was set to sign with us but he wanted to play football and baseball and we said no. So, he went to Auburn instead and boy did he make us pay when we played them.

I think this is a lot to do about nothing. At its core I assume this is to question Bustle's recruiting judgement. This "article" is evidence of nothing. With the extremely speculative world of recruiting and dare I say "commitments" these days... it is danged if you, danged if you don't... and just how much is still left to interpretation?

I can tolerate a lot of jibber jabber about play calling and such, but making allegations, without all of the facts, on "recruiting" is like saying "you should hold the dice between your palm, ring and index finger to truly CONTROL the roll of the dice".

And, I am not sure about the rest of you, but everything I hear and read is not the absolute entirety of the subject. In fact, besides having to distinguish fact from fiction, 19 facts can yield one outcome... then a 20th arrives and completely trumps the outcome. It sucks for "us" prognosticating fans, but it's the truth (until a 20th fact arrives and trumps it!)

I do not think he was coming to UL (and Bustle knew it), scholarship withdrawn or not. But, I will say this... had he chose to come here... no BCS fan would give him a second thought as an undersized nobody with speed at lowly UL. But, at a BCS school... he's a phenomena. Trust me... happens all the time. That is the only "human interest story" that comes out of this... for me.

Regardless, I do love to watch him play.
