Dude, not one time did I predict the Cajuns to win the game. The comment about the blown call was because that was in the open field and obvious. Octavian Anderson held just about every play, he was manhandled by Trey Flowers and was exposed when jay Johnson decided to abandon what was working.

Had we been patient and stuck to the game plan we would have been in position to win late in the game. We did not do that, we went to the pass too early and didn't take advantage of what Arkansas couldn't stop. We averaged 5.1 ypc by the RBs. You don't get away from what was working, but we did.

I saw plenty of sacks in the 2nd quarter with the game in complete reach. We were not dropping back and slinging the ball every play because we were down 20 when the majority of those sacks occurred.

Also, Tim Couch played at Kentucky, not Arkansas.

I don't think we abandoned anything too early but rather, we were hit hard with sacks on about 3 series there that really pushed us back and stifled our momentum. To me, it seems like we threw more on the first few drives but we were hitting short throws and dinking up the field. I just think that they overwhelmed our Oline on a few consecutive series when we just dropped to pass.

If you have an O-line that is getting whipped on pass protection, and you are down sufficiently enough that you feel the need to keep throwing it, wouldn't you roll your QB out a few times to throw it instead of dropping him back continually making him a sitting duck? And, this is even more perplexing as our QB is very mobile thus making the roll out an effective ploy.

It was tipped because the offensive linen was overwhelmed plain and simple. The play had zero chance of being completed.

Freres, I have looked at the stats and drive charts for both teams, and have come to 1 conclusion (Cptn Obvious here): We beat ourselves... See the drive chart below.

    Louisiana-Lafayette Drive Summaries

START QTR POSS. YARD PLAYS YARDS RESULT
    08:24 1 04:06 ULL 25 11 65 Field Goal Missed*
    02:33 1 03:35 ULL 29 10 71 Rushing Touchdown
    11:30 2 00:27 ULL 25 3 0 Punt^
    05:18 2 03:16 ULL 25 7 27 Punt#
    15:00 3 02:12 ULL 25 3 -10 Punt^
    11:58 3 00:38 ULL 45 2 1 Fumble#
    08:39 3 02:19 ULL 25 8 75 Passing Touchdown
    06:04 3 01:40 ULL 17 3 -6 Punt^
    01:55 3 00:49 ULL 6 3 2 Punt
    12:45 4 02:09 ULL 26 7 44 Interception*
    01:46 4 01:16 ULL 20 6 16 Turnover on Downs

Now the way I figure it, the missed field goal and the interception, cost us 14 points. The 2 drives with # were both in or on the verge of ARK territory, which were moving along until dropped passes and a !)$(*&%)#* fumble occurred. I look at those as 6 points. So far, that's 20 points and the difference in the game. Not to mention that ARK put up 7 points off turnovers and the ARK drive right before halftime....we had them at 3 and 9 at their own 5 yard line, they converted and got a field goal as time expired. That's 10 points. The other punts ^, show that as one of our esteemed posters put earlier, we abandoned the run too early. It cost us in the passing game. I feel that without the turnovers and 2 precise defensive stands, we'd have won this game by 10.....JMO...

There's no way to sugar coat our loss up there. They kicked our butts. The score is actually closer than the game was. Without any of the mishaps stated above, we still would have lost.

    On to K state!!

Unlike last year, we don't seem to have the judgement on the long high jump passes....butler and Rob just misjudged the distance....last year we come down with these sometimes with one hand,,,,,,,
