Thread: Overpowered

  1. Default Overpowered

Sophomore quarterback Brandon Allen threw for three touchdowns, running back Jonathan Williams had a 75-yard touchdown run and kicker Zach Hocker added two field goals as Arkansas opened the Bret Bielema coaching era with a 34-14 non-conference win over the Cajuns.

Yep, and out played at times. But UL had their moments also! I just wish we would have made a few adjustments that I know I was not the only one that saw this, as the announcers were saying the same thing. Let Broadway play his game, work on NOT locking in(other receivers lonely on the field), hit the TE more, Use your backs don't run Broadway quite so much.

I'm not a football expert by any stretch...but you nailed it...at least as far as what I saw and was saying during the game.

Any time we play a team that like this we has to almost always play a perfect game to win. We can't make mistakes, we have make them pay for theirs... Simply put, we didn't so that. We'll be fine though. Defense MUST get better.

I was more disappointed in the defense than offense. The offense showed some good things but was inconsistent (o-line play especially). But I thought the defense was flat. I expected a much more aggressive defense and much better play out of our D-line.

Why were our D-backs playing SO far off? ULM and WKU will lite us up and any other pass happy Offense! We need to get it right. One thing that would help our D is to have our Offense on the field a bit more!

The defense wasn't good by any stretch of the imagination but the offense can't keep putting them on the field so much. Also, for how bad we played on defense, 34 points is a lot better than what we would normally have given up.

Overpowered is right. However, we had our opportunities and did not capitalize. It was a 13 point game, they gave us the ball around the 50 and we gave it right back. Terrance had some wide open guys that he did not see. The missed field goal. A few drops.

These guys will rally. You can't keep a talented team down for long.

And ya'll do have a lot of talent on the field. I will really enjoy following the Cajuns for the rest of the season. As your lines progress so will the team. We (AR) had a decided advantage on both sides of the line of scrimmage and that was the difference imo. Your young guys will grow and you will be fine as the season goes along.

We kind of expected our secondary to be a question mark going in but we ade it too easy for them to play pitch and catch. At QB Club Coach said they were emphasizing not giving up the big play and keeping everything in front of them. While that may be a good strategy for a young inexperienced secondary it lets the opponent just dink and dunk their way down the field. Hopefully we will be more aggressive next game.

And I'll eat some crow. As much as I used to _____ about Bates and Odoms propensity to draw a case tart flag or two for each game I sure would have traded a few flags for their blocking ability. Our tackles looked foolish and got beat like a drum several times out there.

Man, if we would have connected on the screen pass to Elijah, it may have gone to the house. Instead, it was tipped and intercepted.

Offense had only 274 total yards...and scored only 14 points. Can't win many games with only 14.
