I know this is a minor problem compared to things that need fixing within the athletic program but it seems to be a common topic among cajun fans. How can we be taken seriously with the mascot we have. If your a school outside of LA then you probably don't even know what it is. I read a thread a while back stating that there was a pole taken and the pepper came in fourth. So why is it being used. We play in a place nicknamed "The Swamp." Our campus is built around a swamp. And what do we have in that swamp? You guessed it Alligators. So why is this not our mascot? I hate to use them as an example, but LSU has a Tiger located on campus, Georgia has a bulldog, S. Illinois has a saluki. I know we won't be able to bring a gator to a game but I could be an attraction of our campus to go see our live mascot on campus. It's mean, it strikes fear in opponents and I don't keep it in a jar in my refrigerator. I know I am among many who would like this change to occur, so does someone know a way to get this accross to the people in charge?
Also, it would be nice to see our mascot not sitting around drinking a bottle of water. He is supposed to be our pep leader. The only thing I've seen our mascot do is try to pick a fight with the McNeese Cowboy mascot. But after that I saw our mascot only a few times during the game. He needs to get out there and get the fans in the game like the Cajun Chicken used to do!!!!
