Louisiana softball will host the program's annual "Meet the Team Day" at Lamson Ragin' Cajuns Softball Park on Saturday, Oct. 6. The event will be highlighted by an intrasquad scrimmage, featuring the 2008 edition of the Ragin' Cajuns softball team, at 10 a.m.

Hippity-hop relays, a dizzy bat contest, fastest pitch and a home run contest highlight just some of the events taking place during the day at Lamson Park. Following the scrimmage, fans can meet the players and coaching staff during an autograph session. Jambalaya, hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks will be provided for everyone in attendance.

Fans will also have an opportunity to renew or purchase season passes for the 2008 season. The softball team encourages everyone to register upon entering the park, as one lucky fan will win two (2) Ragin' Cajuns softball season passes for the upcoming season.

The day will conclude with the team being recognized at halftime of the Louisiana-North Texas football game at Cajun Field for its participation in the 2007 NCAA Regional at College Station.

Prior to kickoff at Cajun Field, fans will receive a second opportunity for autographs and photos with the softball team from 5-6 p.m. at "Gate A". To purchase tickets for the football game, fans can order by phone at (337) 262-8686 or by logging on to www.RaginCajuns.com and clicking on 'Tickets', then 'Buy Online'.

The softball souvenir shop at Lamson Park will be open for fans wanting to purchase Ragin' Cajuns softball merchandise. Raffle tickets will also be on sale for the softball team's on-going fund-raiser; tickets are $10. The grand prize is two (2) practice round tickets to the 2008 Masters Tournament in Augusta, Ga., which will be given away in March 2008.

The Cajuns return 11 letterwinners from last season, including Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year Brittany Cuevas (Brazoria, Texas). Also returning are All-Sun Belt second teamer Karli Hubbard (Lafayette, La.) and All-Louisiana selection Melissa Verde (Beaumont, Texas). UL also features eight newcomers, highlighted by senior transfers Brooke Brodhead (Lafayette, La.), Vanessa Soto (San Diego, Calif.) and the nation's most acclaimed freshman, Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year Ashley Brignac (River Ridge, La.).

Louisiana, which finished the 2007 season with a 46-18 mark, opens the preseason at the College Classic in Spring, Texas, Oct. 12-14.
