The pronouncements have come over the past week.
And the decisions - to "pull those redshirts," in UL head coach Mark Hudspeth's words - have mostly been much easier to make than not.

I will always agree with coach HUD but I feel that we Could have saved Elijahs talent and redshirted him with so many running backs, the same with byrne.but sharod Johnson will be a beast
That's the thing, the way it sounds, Elijah has earned the second spot behind Alonzo. If he is clearly better than Reed, Carter, and Pierce, why redshirt him.
Nick Byrne i think should play, i think he will be a great player for us, maybe not this year, but definitely next year
I know nothing about Sharrod Johnson other than that he is huge
You play the guys that give you the best chance to win, and win big THIS year. If it were close and he would get no real time Hud would not pull the red shirt on McGuire. Nobody knows what will be going on five years from today.
I could see Johnson being a game changer on a field goal block unit. You can't teach 6'8"
Guys I had posted some of this before but I was in the E zone on a g line defense play and his (S JOhnson's) movement as he slanted into a gap was just incredible--something you would expect of a guy his size---McGuire and Scott handling punt/KO returns showed their quickness and McG's screen pass was unreal----Byrne is what he has been since he got here in the Spring ----A really great TE of the future (Looked like a tweener WR/TE but he is gonna be a great TE)---haven't really seen the CB but all the coverage seems to indicate he will play!!!
Can't wait to see these players, along with our bunch of other great playmakers. This will be fun to watch.
I have written this before but it is worth repeating. McGuire may have the talent to play pro ball. If in fact he goes after his third college year, you wasted his first year if you redshirt him as he will only play two years from you in that scenario. That is why LSU plays so many of their top guys in Year 1. Playing McGuire now to have him for three years vs two is a no-brainer.
