Thread: Redshirting can be tough call

  1. Default Re: Redshirting can be tough call

Talk about fun is to critique a player with some other people and rerun the tape etc---you just mentioned Scooting (guess quickness will work there, but I like scoot and yea he can scoot)----said you love his vision--REALLY ---he is so fast and sees the openings and decides on them instantly---And did you notice the after burners on the sideline???he didn't look that good on a few reps in a blocking drill but he actually came back strong in that drill!!! I guess I haven't seen this type of new raw talent since I first saw Bo Lamar or Harold Porter sprinting!!!!

Boomer, (to me, just the little bit of what I've seen) McGuire has the look of the best pure running back UL has ever had. But, time of course will tell. Note: Please stay healthy McGuire, so we can enjoy your career here.

Dang! The other team looks like they are in slow motion against him.

He is a well kept secret of Cajun-T's RED ZONE!!! and when you are face to face he is 6'8" 380 pounds---and the pounds are not the Fat Albert type---Wow he can really be good here and I think the deal might be initial spot playing in "plug the middle" type situations (again just my thoughts)!!!

That is why LSU plays so many of their top guys in Year 1. Playing McGuire now to have him for three years vs two is a no-brainer.

Maybe Mike, but I am pretty sure we will play our top guy in year one if he plays for exactly the same reason EllisWho does, and it is not really about year four, or five, but year one. You need your best playing. At least that is the way I see it.

Does McGuire give us a better chance of beating Arkansas, KSU, ASU, WKU, ULM, and the rest? If he does play him, if not red shirt him unless injury requires he move up.

It also shows recruits that you will play as a freshman if you are good enough. That's a good pitch, but can't give it if you don't play freshmen.

Do you really think he has talent to leave after three years
Bottom line, when Mcguire came out he was the best running back in the state. If he would have been a class of '13 recruit ( as everyone else in the state thought he would be), he would have been the number one RB prospect in the state. He's a BCS caliber athlete; to me this is Hud's greatest coup. Remember when B Mitchell chose us over LSU; if it weren't for the special circumstances; he'd be at a SEC school. So, yah; he's that good.
