    FYI

    Just so you don't poll uninformed . . .

UL is averaging exactly 100 yards more -per game- on offense so far this year, than they averaged in 2006.

    0-4......obviously not.

I'm not really sure who was playing against South Carolina in week 1. It wasn't us. And with two more guaranteed losses against TN and UCF it isn't going to get much better.

  5. UL Football Re: Is UL's Offense where you thought it would be?

    ps

    2006 20.7 points per game
    2007 21.2 points per game

I am happy that I can see a better team on the field than there was 4 or 6 years ago. Is it where I hoped it would be? nope... but I see progress. I am hoping that Bustle doesn't get fired and the practice facility helps us get some recruits here...

I am getting season tickets next year for the first time...

We are averaging 100 yards per game more this year than last.

    2006 - 317.8 yards per game
    2007 - 417.8 yards per game

BUT we are giving up 130 more yards per game than last year.

    2006 - 331 yards per game
    2007 - 461 yards per game

Yeah, I expected a poll on the defense before one about the offense.

In my view, it is not the yardage but their inability to convert when needed. For example, versus Troy, I remember a 3rd down and 2 when we were down by 10 and needed to keep our drive going as we had gone 3 & out back to back. We called a pass play, no one was open and we punt. Then, a bad kick and Troy is right back with great field position. The option running game is working, but we don't use it in a critical situation. We get bogged down too many times. We seem to have only a hand full of plays that we run, none of which are effective when we get to crunch time. And, most of our yardage is in the 1st half. We make no 2nd half adjustments and seem to fall apart. I am very disappointed in this offense. And, our receivers can't seem to hold onto anything. We have too many weapons not to score more.

I think I am more concerned with our coaching staff. We brought in a new OC and DC. Offense is about the same as last year, but we have a better running QB. Defense is worse or at least seems to be worse. We have no pass defense, we have no pass rush. We were told our defense was going to be small but quick, we would be an attacking defense and would blitz a lot. I haven't seen any of that, in fact, just the opposite. This year, unfortunately, may be Bustle's undoing. I hope he can somehow turn things around. But, it doesn't look good right now.

Our Hurry Up Offense needs to slow down. Take the playclock all the way down. The longer the offense has the ball the less time our so called defense is out there.
