Geography and timing helped a lot with the Big East wanting a foothold and the exposure in that fertile recruiting area. And, unlike us , they seem to have an administration who set a goal, made a plan to achieve that goal, and finally, implemented and fully supported the plan with the necessary resources. We may not have any control over geography or much control over conference affiliation, but lets hope our next president at UL will act in a similar maner as their admin did.
