Thread: McGuire throws curve into UL's RB depth chart

Coach Johnson told me last night at the RCAF function that McGuire is an SEC caliber running back and UL got an absolute steal. Also said Nick Byrne was offered by Arkansas 2 days after he had already enrolled as an early HS graduate in January 2013. We are getting players that can play in the SEC, not as potential washed-up transfers but as HS graduates. The talent the coaches have stockpiled on this team is amazing and it will only get better. McGuire appears to be the real deal.

My thoughts exactly. Its not like Carter and Reed are slouches. We KNOW these guys can play ball

No news here. If anyone watched his highlight film from high school they knew he would be the most talented back we have.

"McGuire throws curve into UL's RB depth chart"

I want to see a "juke" much more effective than a "curve"

I'm not sure where this post is going. McGuire is certainly an impressive player but as T said, he's had trouble holding onto the ball and clocking which won't get you a ton of carries in this offense, especially if one of those missed blocks results in Broadway going down.

Talent is one thing and looking at past film only goes so far. I'd like to see him in a game where he has to make good on all his assignments.

Just pointing out that he is probably the most talented back we've had here in a long time. Fumbling the ball is a deal breaker though. I'm sure he'll get that corrected.

I, too, believe him to be talented but I also thought the same thing about Cunningham, Robert Walker and Deon Wallace after watching their films. I'm excited to watch the first game and see what he does. I truly hope he lives up to the talent we feel he has

HUD has said numerous times that if you can't hold on to the ball, you can't play. So if he has faith in him be 2nd in rotation, it tells me HUD trusts him with ball control at this point. BUT playing your first college game against an SEC defense will tell us a lot

Wallace was good, the other two were busts.
