September 18 was the first day of classes for SLII in 1901.
Our other birthday is July 13, 1898, when the Bill was signed creating the University.

I'm confused. The founding date shouldn't be the founding date?
Instead, the first date of classes (1901) should be the founding date, even though the institution was founded in 1898?
It's really important that you clarify for us, because we don't want to be called liars. That really hurts our feelings.
For some reason in the 1960's they knew 1898 was the anniversary date.
I wonder how UL forgot?
Tomorrow the 18th will the 109th anniversary of our first day of classes, 1901.
I wish UL would promote the day the universty was founded in 1898 instead of using 1900. Why not use 1898 on all of our official university material? It certainly sounds more impressive and prestigious than a university founded in the 1900's. Has this ever been addressed, because there is a lot of inconsistency in using both 1898 and 1900?
well I thought it was kind of cool that me and the university shared a birthday.
On August 8, 1901, UL opened its doors for classes for the first time.
Established two+ (3) years earlier, they didn't have the benefit of heavy duty cranes.
ps you must be raising kids, I think anniversary.
