Thread: Just to see what people are feeling

Coaches who can't coach "big" games get fired and players who can't make plays aren't really players

    Don't make excuses.

The poll misses one key point. Where is the half million dollar buyout going to come from.

truthfully, when was the last time you DID NOT hope lsu's opponent "took it to them?"

and i've always felt it was your negative vibes that lost that florida game last year.

    but, bottom-line, a brilliant post.

Actually I never pulled against LSU, but if this is how classless their fans are then I sure hope they do get it handed to them by an opponent which UL nearly upset. Sorry that I hit a nerve, but it is the truth. When they do lose this season I will be sure to rag them about it.

My brother, a McNeese alum, came in for the game and he noted how we moved the ball at will in the first half, but kept shooting ourselves in the foot. We don't do that, we put 'em away in the 1st half, and cruise home.

But we kept handing MSU hope, and momentum.

Losing to a program a division below hurts, all the more because they recruit against us. But c'mon, does anybody really believe McNeese is ahead of us, in anything-- including football?

Personally, I have a suspicion about what happened. The coaches-- WITH PRESSURE FROM ALL OF US-- changed their approach last week. From what I heard, the practice was much more intense than it had been for USC or Ohio.

And that may have been our undoing.

With all the pressure, maybe the kids choked. Which is certainly what I saw on the field. We choked. Every coach goes to great lengths to give the kids the same routine, every week, to keep them consistent. Apparently Bustle et cie. violated that maxim last week.

Everybody talks about this being Bustle's 5th year. But he didn't inherit a program in disarray, he inherited a program in deep debt. He would have been better off starting out with NO program, with a ZERO balance, because as it was, he inherited a lot of weak players who occupied his scholarships for up to 3 years. Add on top of that a short 1st-year recruiting season, and then the difficulty of recruiting to a program that was struggling-- again, because his scholarships were all tied up.

You could make a case for this only being Bustle's second year, because it has taken him that long just to get decent-- not great-- players.

Now, if the rest of the season stinks, yeah, we need to look long & hard at Bustle. But for now, let's see what he can do. _
To me the problem seems to be that our staff doesn't know how, or maybe it's "which", adjustments to make as the game rolls on.

I don't blame Hundley for leaving. We had nothing to lose by at least trying him for a series or two. It may have helped MD to stand on the sidelines and see the game from that persepective.

I think our rich alumni should finance $2,000,000.00 a year to bring Terry Bowen out of retirement. LOL

    What am I feeling?

With the benefit of four days away from any message board or media (and selective reading of postings) I'm feeling much better.

Saturday night was about as empty as I've ever felt as a Cajun fan. But I still care. But I'll admit that in the darkest hours of the Baldwin era, I didn't.

I am glad that people still care about this program and I recognize the people that want the regime change and the people that want to stay the course both have that same care for the program.

What I've been asking myself is "why us?"

Why is it that every team that has a chip on its shoulder comes and takes it to us? AND WHY DO SO MANY TEAMS SEEM TO HAVE A CHIP ON THEIR SHOULDER WHEN IT COMES TO US?

Where is our chip? Why can't we take it to those teams?

Why can't we have a crowd in Tiger Stadium, or anywhere else for that matter, sit in the same stunned silence that I sat in in the 4th quarter-with the knowledge that the Cajuns just whupped them?

I was watching "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" this weekend and when it came to the final shoot out in the cemetary, Blondie (Eastwood's character) said "Looks like we have to earn it."

Well, that's what I think - WE HAVE TO EARN IT.

EVERYTHING - all the success in the world will never be handed to us - we have to earn it.

    Starting now.

I'll be there Saturday, yelling my guts out. Maybe we will earn it then.

BUT I'M NOT GOING TO QUIT CARING.

Wish I could be there to join you. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we take this one from Troy. Nobody is expecting it; and who would after last saturday. I'll be back in Lafayette for NT; so until then its live video streaming for me.

P.S. I did talk with my sister and my 5 seats are going to be filled!

Maybe Coach Bustle should have Coach Robe come in and speak with the team. Our baseball team has had quite a "chip" since the 1999 season.
