I just want to get an idea of what the majority of posters are feeling here. What do you think the program should do?
Bustle should be fired today.
Bustle should be fired at the end of the season.
Wait and see how the team performs the rest of the season and then decide his fate.
Stay the course.

I hate to say it, as I have yet to miss a game since well before Bustle rein started here. I supported him all along, after long consideration I think he should go. It feels like he doesnt really get involved in the games, from friends that have played for him, he doesnt really get involved in practices either.
Send the message... This is not acceptable.. Like many others I was very happy when Coach Bustle was hired.. nothing personal... but pack your bags.. TODAY
Feeling like we just got our butts kicked in every area of the game. From coaching to kicking. I think in the future we should try to emulate the good things our in state peers do-McNeese included. They have built a consistant winner, and should be respected.
I don't know if Bustle should go, but I think we will know by the end of the year.
Now is when you find out who the true warriors are. The team lost one pretender today, maybe more to follow. Meanwhile hopefully the remaining players can recapture whatever magic turned around the 2005 season after a similarly dismal start.
Don't take the easy route and give up.....fans and players alike.
Anything less than 7 wins he goes. It is time for a Bowl game this year.
Granted I know if he wins 6 he will be around for another year.
Bustle did not do a bad job at all and the facilities have improved...but someone prove that the program is getting better...
After Saturday there is no proof to say the program is moving forward. If you do have proof that is not an excuse...I'll be shocked.
- 0 and 3 and not to mention McNeese now has a distinct recruiting edge over UL..not good!
Stay the course...
The university doesn't have the money to fire him, and who would they hire thats better? Has anyone looked at the pay scale? the athletic budget? the type of "athletes" we get?
Bustle up..........
hey I have a great idea, lets get this idiot coach out of his contract. If we get everyone to come to the games to show how dissatisfied we are, just imagine 30,000 people at every game demanding a new coach, with all that ticket money we would have no problem buying out his contract. Who's with me? (wink wink)
Look, MSU was the better team Saturday night.
But I still don't believe they were the better team overall. We played two teams that are much better than McNeese, and came close to beating both of them... and then we lost to a 1AA by 3 touchdowns? What's wrong with THAT picture?
My brother, a McNeese alum, came in for the game and he noted how we moved the ball at will in the first half, but kept shooting ourselves in the foot. We don't do that, we put 'em away in the 1st half, and cruise home.
But we kept handing MSU hope, and momentum.
Losing to a program a division below hurts, all the more because they recruit against us. But c'mon, does anybody really believe McNeese is ahead of us, in anything-- including football?
Personally, I have a suspicion about what happened. The coaches-- WITH PRESSURE FROM ALL OF US-- changed their approach last week. From what I heard, the practice was much more intense than it had been for USC or Ohio.
And that may have been our undoing.
With all the pressure, maybe the kids choked. Which is certainly what I saw on the field. We choked. Every coach goes to great lengths to give the kids the same routine, every week, to keep them consistent. Apparently Bustle et cie. violated that maxim last week.
Everybody talks about this being Bustle's 5th year. But he didn't inherit a program in disarray, he inherited a program in deep debt. He would have been better off starting out with NO program, with a ZERO balance, because as it was, he inherited a lot of weak players who occupied his scholarships for up to 3 years. Add on top of that a short 1st-year recruiting season, and then the difficulty of recruiting to a program that was struggling-- again, because his scholarships were all tied up.
You could make a case for this only being Bustle's second year, because it has taken him that long just to get decent-- not great-- players.
Now, if the rest of the season stinks, yeah, we need to look long & hard at Bustle. But for now, let's see what he can do.
Fun,
While I can't agree with you on everything, I do agree that the team looked like they were "pressing". I think they knew how important the game was to the fans and the program in general. We had several opportunities to get points early and build a decent lead, and they shot themselves in the foot. You can't play "what if" at this point; because you really don't know; but without the "silly" turnovers we could have had a 17-3 lead instead of being down. Would they have performed better the rest of the way without the early mistakes - - I certainly don't know. But it just seemed that as things went south they began pressing more and more. Lets just hope they can put this one behind them and start playing to their abilities real soon!
