Thread: The backup battle

  1. Default The backup battle

The UL football team came out of spring practice with three bona fide backup quarterback candidates in red-shirt freshmen Texan Brooks Haack, Teurlings Catholic product D’Shaie Landor and Carencro High product Jalen Nixon.

Now the field of contenders to be No. 2 behind starter Terrance Broadway is down to two, Haack and Landor, head coach Mark Hudspeth hinted at Monday and confirmed after the second day or preseason no-pads training camp Tuesday.

Where will Jalen Nixon play? We're pretty deep at RB too.

I checked the roster on ragincajuns.com 30 minutes ago. He is listed at RB.

It would be something to behold to see us run out of a power I with Nixon and Harris in the backfield. Somebody's getting run over.

Nixon will do well in our back field bc outside of Harris, we don't have another power back.

In the lagniappe at the end, they said Simeon Thomas may not redshirt. That's good news if he's already looking good, 6'3 defensive backs don't grow on trees.

The roster shows we also have 6'10" and 6'8" defensive lineman.

If Nixon can block he would be an excellent package sub for Harris ---- he also ran the W-Cat in the Spring game-He was a load up the middle and he still can pass if they over compensate against the run!!!! In his brief trial at TE/H back last Fall he didn't do too well as I remember!!!----but true freshman!!!

Typo on the 6'10" only. The other is legit. 6'8" 380#. He's been on campus for a year and I think we did a good job of keeping that under wraps. He's a project.

Is the roster correct showing Hamilton down to 295 lbs. from 330 lbs. last year?
