Thread: 5 things to watch as Ragin' Cajuns head to camp

  1. Default 5 things to watch as Ragin' Cajuns head to camp

With players reporting to campus for the start of preseason camp and taking a team photo today, the time has come to start wondering just how well things will come into focus for the UL football team before its 2013 season opens with an Aug. 31 visit to Arkansas.

Four Sundays from today, I will be celebrating a Cajun victory in Hawg Town. Think I will have some Jimmy Dean Links.

I'm ready to see which freshman will emerge as difference makers. I still expect McGuire to see the field if he's as good as advertised.

Guys- if Nixon turns out to be buried on the web depth chart- any chance y'all see him moved to another position? He certainly has the size to play a number of spots on both sides of the ball.

Article didn't mention inside linebacker. Heard yesterday that Kevin Fouquier is penciled in to start. Reminds me of Lance Kelly. He has lots of height and if he reacts to the ball as quick as Lance did, it could be very tough for anyone to pass over the middle. Remember how many deflections Lance had?.

Also, does anyone know anything about Lance Pace? He had a great spring game.

I dont know about starting in the middle. I would have thought molbert would be in the middle, and Anderson at one outside spot.

I would love to see the battle for the third LB spot, we got some talented LBs. Fouquier, Trae Johnson, Chris Hill, Tyren Alexander, Boris Anyama. Not to mention the redshirt freshmen Lightfoot, Darien Batiste, Rodney Smith.

    Should be great competition there

The only thing going against him is ALLL the depth we have at receiver.

We have no shortage of linebackers, that's for sure. If Alexander stays healthy, he will be starting.

In the article Hud said he was expecting to red shirt McGuire. IMO he would have to be miles ahead of the other running backs to lose the red shirt, and of course injuries always are an unknowable factor.

He said they don't expect to burn the redshirt season for McGuire.
