UL Football NCAA will not renew EA Sports contract

I wonder how this will change the game?

Member colleges and universities license their own trademarks and other intellectual property for the video game. They will have to independently decide whether to continue those business arrangements in the future.
What this boils down to is the NCAA can see that they are treading on dangerous ground by profiting from the use of universities and players "likenesses". They are simply backing away and shifting liability to the universities if players were to sue for use of their "likenesses".

The NCAA football video game franchise is extremely popular and profitable, I don't see a reason why EA would discontinue it. What will be interesting is to see if the NCAA enters into an agreement with another video game producer to produce similiar content.

or why not open it up a bit and let there be more than one ncaa game so theres a little competition out there to force people like EA to produce a better product than the lame same game different year on the cover thing they have been doing for years

It allows conferences to negotiate separate agreements. $EC strikes again.

Well, now I have to buy this year's version... May be the last for a while... Which is fine. There will be groups that will make updated rosters if there is no game next year.

This won't stop the game from being made...it has already been confirmed that next year it will be EA Sports College Football 15. No changes other than that.

I won't even watch people play Madden. I enjoy the NCAA games.

One of the best EA games ever was NCAA Baseball in 2006 and 2007 it was after EA lost their MLB license and Hockey went on strike.

In that instance EA ended the baseball agreement. They could have used that as leverage this time around. Too bad.

I agree I had one of those games, and it sure was a good game.
Also I feel NFL 2k5 was one of the best football games made

EA's greatest franchise (this means gamer rating and sales) has always been NHL
