ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Jimmy Paredes’ second stint with the Astros this season showed little improvement and provided no statistical evidence he’s ready for a full-time major-league role. The 24-year-old outfielder was 2-for-17 with seven strikeouts after being called up June 30 from Oklahoma City. He’s batting just .178 this year overall with a .477 on-base plus slugging percentage and has struck out 38 times in 101 at-bats. Paredes has excelled twice this season with the RedHawks. But he’s a career .233 hitter with a .591 OPS during three abbreviated seasons (107 games) with the Astros.
