DA Haney opens elderly abuse, neglect division

Sixteenth Judicial District Attorney Phil Haney's office will soon begin working with state agencies to protect the elderly from abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation.

Haney's office has entered into an agreement with the Department of Health and Hospitals and the Office of Aging and Adult Services to provide a team of investigators, support staff, and legal support to check on suspected cases of elderly abuse and neglect in not only Iberia, St. Martin, and St. Mary Parishes, but also in seven other parishes--including Lafayette, Acadia, St. Landry, Evangeline, and Vermilion Parishes.
