Thread: La Louisiane morphing into "at Lafayette" Magazine

  1. Louisiana Campus Re: La Louisiane Magazine Promoting the Moniker "UL Lafayette."

Well one thing is for sure, you cannot go back because MoanRow would then be free to claim jump Louisiana, and that would have made this all the worse.

Spilt milk, water under the bridge, let bygones be bygones, whatever. We simply have to demand that our university clearly claims Louisiana to whatever legal level they can, and be consistent. Any two bit lawyer could get them that information, and if we don't like the answer we don't like the answer, but make clear what the answer is.

In a perfect world, you would be correct.

But, Nevada didn't have uber-paranoid big brother, Nevada State, stomping on them at every turn.

Even so, Nevada received lots of flack in-state from UNLV politicians every step of the way.

How odd that a magazine named 'Louisiana' (albeit in French) can't find a way to use its own name when referring to the school it writes about.

The Acadiana name would have never flown. It would not have been deemed "diverse" enough. Be thankful we can still call ourselves Ragin Cajuns.

Just goes to show the many dynamics at play here over this name thing.

How about in the list of our former names they fail to mention THE University of Louisiana---you ever heard of it ??? That school in Lafayette that had an entire graduating class with the name of the school (The University of Louisiana) on their Diploma!!!! Oh well we must do this and that----God I HATE THIS spineless printing in our BRAND MAG!!!

Really! Remember the moron who tried mounting a public campaign to get the Ragin' Cajun moniker changed because he, as a resident of what is now termed upper Lafayette, didn't consider himself a Cajun.

I long ago accepted the fact that LSU and LaTech fans will always feel threatened by our becoming known as The University of Louisiana. I decided to simply live with that fact and quit worrying about it. Life is too short to fret over something like what La Louisiane magazine calls us. Now, having said that, I must say that I think that the editor of La Louisiane is an a--hole for doing something that he had to know would be insulting to many in the Acadiana area.

The editor does a very nice job of following what her leaders request her to do ... the President of the University and the Director of the Alumni Association. She is really quite a fine person, and not the problem.

    I stand corrected then.

Well the K.T. Lafayette love fest express predates both persons you mentioned. Besides, when Dr Joseph Savoie took the job he said "We Are Louisiana." Plus the deceased father of the AA Director once told me 'Louisiana' was a priority. In fact -I will have to check but- I may even have a recording of him saying so.

I don't think she has a prime directive as you imply. If she does, it's sad.
