He's been back in Lafayette for five years now after 19 years away from home.

His parents still live close to the old high school, so when former Lafayette High quarterback Dwight Prudhomme drives by Mighty Lion Stadium, it's easy to recollect his glory days.

"Oh yeah,'' Prudhomme said. "There's a lot of great memories. We had an offense that scored a lot of points. I led the state in passing for two years.''

Prudhomme was Lafayette High's third All-State quarterback in the decade of the 1970s, following Rex Henderson and Robbie Mahfouz.
