You are right no one questions their fan bases. But they will question ours. It may not seem fair but that is the nature of the beast. The media and fans in general give the " big boys" such as the two you cited a pass while non-BCS programs will get hammered. If we want to make the argument for choosing us over a mediocre BCS league team we need to do it by bringing the fan base.

He may end up being right about this one. Tulane looks like they can get 7 wins. A bowl game with no travel costs would be hard to pass up.

Well, first thing, we need to win out. That would take care of our side of the equation.

Next, would Tulane put any more butts in the stadium that ECU?

Juding by average attendance. We have between 25K-30K fans of Cajun homes games.
We have about 50-75K fans of tailgating at UL home games.
We have between 1-2K fans of traveling for regular season road games.

If we brought 20K to the Independence Bowl playing anyone except a BCS team, it would be a miracle IMO.

NOLA bowl is on a Saturday, in New Orleans, in an indoor stadium when people are coming home for the holidays.

Independence Bowl is in Shreveport, outside, after Christmas.

I also don't think we get more than 20K in Mobile, because the game is after the holidays are over. Houston may have a shot at more than 20K.
I think you are right on all accounts except the vague "a shot at more in Houston". With a good opposing program matchup, I believe Houston might just be one of the most pleasant surprises to the Cajun football program. My biggest hope is that we do get a Houston bid while Hud is here. Again, if we're up against a good opposing program matchup, we will bring 25k to 30k from Acadiana... and add another 10k to 15k from the 60 mile radius of Houston.

There's a lot of UL people in Houston that will show up with friends, family and business associates if our program is on a hot run of football. It will be a bigger shot in the arm to our program than the NO Bowl.

Shhhh... Hud and staff are reading our posts for tips. I don't want them to think they can slack off.

They would indeed. You better believe that some would be sold out

No, no CrappDaddy, we know it would be sold out, but actual butts in the stands no way. Cajun fans would be buying them up on StubHub at below face value. Most of the tickets to UL fans overnighted from New Jersey.

All kidding aside I think you would have a decent contingent of actual a Toolame butts in the seats. I think a lot of them would be very old timers wanting to enjoy the one time experience. For instance, my brother-in-law played at toolame in the late '60s. He has not attended a fame in years other than a rare "reunion" game. But I think he would go to the Bowl game since it us in New Orleans. I think there are many other old New Orleaneans (the last of the dying breed from the days before it became an East Coast school) who would go out of nostalgia.

Sure would be easier than losing and then having to hope that team loses twice.

I think they'll show up in the best numbers they can amass. They will not like UL taking our fans into the home town dome and so completely dominating them. I believe they'd launch a monstrous "back us New Orleans" thing... and get a good number of New Orleanians to attend, wear green, and support them. If they were smart, that's what they'd do in the dawn of their new stadium plans.

I think it would be a great NO Bowl. It would even inspire more UL people to show up... knowing we'd smack down another instate school in a raucous New Orleans weekend party extravaganza.

That is your opinion, we don't have to win out...and in my opinion I don't think we will have to win the championship to be in New Orleans bowl.
