Thanks Frenchie, this addition will be very helpful.
Riding a bicycle in Lafayette is very dangerous, and I am not trying to be cute ... having a dedicated bikeway that covers meaningful areas in Lafayette only helps bikers and automobiles!

From the current end point at the Ira Nelson Center to St. Julien Street is about 1000 feet. when you turn down St. Julien street you will pass in front of a fire station. Across from the fire station is a University owned parking lot where there is a foot bridge that crosses a coulee. That will get you to an area that is behind the child care center. That get you on campus.
The Lafayette Consolidated Council is considering a proposal to convert half of St. Mary Boulevard into bike lanes for about four-fifths of a mile through the University of Louisiana.
The proposal to be introduced Tuesday would convert two of the highway's four lanes from Taft Street, near the university foundation offices, to St. Landry Street, near Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
It's part of a master plan approved by both the UL Campus Planning Committee and the 'System' Board of Supervisors.
That would be nice. Hopefully the next thing they do is shut down St. Mary during the day from Taft to Johnston.
Two very good ideas. When I was in school, the "master plan" then had St. Mary being closed through the campus.
You can't shut it down complete unless you change how the buses come in from Cajun Field.
This is all very important to creating an actual campus atmosphere.
