Coach: Mark Hudspeth (18-8, entering third season; 84-29 overall)
2012 record: 9-4 (6-2 in Sun Belt, tied for second in Sun Belt)
Look back: Mark Hudspeth, who previously thrived as North Alabama's head coach, has transformed the Louisiana program. The Ragin' Cajuns had not recorded at least seven wins in a season since 1993 and had never won a bowl game at the FBS level.
Hudspeth retooled the team, leading UL to a 9-4 record in 2011 and a dramatic 32-30 win over San Diego State in the New Orleans Bowl. The team matched the feat in 2012, going 9-4 and earning a 43-34 win over East Carolina in the New Orleans Bowl. The Ragin' Cajuns won five of their final six games and nearly upset Florida in Gainesville before the Gators pulled off a dramatic rally to score a 27-20 win. Following the 2012 season, eight of Hudspeth's players would go on to earn NFL undrafted-free-agent agreements or tryouts.
