Doesn't show in picture but in 63 there was a path thru the "lake" Had bench mid-way. Had to get there early to watch the submarine races. Just saying.

Yes, you are correct: I had posted a pic quite a while back that shows the path, but I had not been able to find it. Thanks to the ever intrepid Mr. Turbine, he located it for me (it was the Student Union thread).
Not sure of the date but it is very mid-60's. Notice the 'new' Guillory Hall in the background, and for orientation of where the path was.
Anyway, here it is.and I have to say it is a favorite pic of mine.

I still think an elevated walkway thru the swamp or a gazebo like structure in the middle with four paths from the four side meeting there would be awesome as well.

Well, I think one path would be nice, but more than one would be way too much. And it remains to be seen how they will handle the Guillory Hall overlook.if it goes, wonder would go up in its place? And where?
And as for the elevated walkway, I thi what ou had in mind? Its what will be going up in the new city park
