17-20 million dollar budget. That is the issue for us. We need to have at least 25-30 million to even get some attention. A 30 million budget tells other conferences that we are not muchers and we can sustain our selves. Winning seasons outside of basketball in the spring along with the master plan, we should hear a lot more from the Cox building. Again, no RCAF tour to rally support and spread the word. The new brading of "Louisiana Ragin Cajuns" should be big news. We have to build a wide base of supports that are willing to try/donate to the RCAF at a smaller level. Once you have them, keep giving a great product and the money will increase. STOP TRYING TO CHASE BIG FISH IN A VERY SMALL POND.

I agree but as a sidenote; $30m gets you to $50m the 1st year you enter the Big-12

  3. UL Football Re: Orlando Sentinel

New today, LTU at # 65. So sorry Skippy and papa Lou.

Kent State at # 64, Cajuns ever closer to the fifties. Thinking we will beat out ASU as they lost their star quarterback, and in spite of what Red Wolves fans think he was good for two or three monster plays a game. When he did not make them, they lost.

Side note to budgets. Today thirty million is not getting what it did five years ago. We need forty or better, yep we need to over double our current budget, then it will be worth seventy or more in the Big XII.

Instead of embracing a pipe dream of Big 12 membership, I would hope that our administration is working to sell UL to the AAC university presidents right now.
Sorry Oiler, but just like CUSA when toolame was in it, we got NO shot at AAC while toolame's in it. Not unless Cowan's successor has a change in attitude.

Getting into the AAC would be very positive for UL and I said I believe we CAN do that. I just don't believe the Big 12 would give us a second thought. There are lots of programs the Big 12 would take before us. Colorado State, Air Force, Houston, and Rice are all in the Big 12's footprint and any one of them would be taken before we'd get a look. That isn't being negative, it's being realistic. On the other hand, UL is a great fit geographically for the AAC and we'd come in and immediately be competitive in all sports.

Hopefully, Cowan's successor will indeed have a change in attitude. A lot of things have changed since conference realignment began. All of it positive for UL.

10 of 14 CUSA teams are in the bottom half [of 125 FBS programs]. 10 of 13 MAC teams, 8 of 10 MWC teams, 7 of 10 AAC and 6 of 8 Sun Belt teams. The Cajuns [by this source anyway] are at worst in the top 14 G of 5 schools, and rated higher than any independent not named Notre Dame.
