Thread: Soto's dreams come true

  1. UL Softball Soto's dreams come true at UL

HOUSTON - Vanessa Soto had a crooked smile leaking from under her sweat-drenched cap and rubbed three fingers together as a gesture to answer the question.

"It's money time," the Cajuns' senior second baseman said with a wink.

She won't say it, but that sure has to sound sweet after being released by LSU last May following three standout seasons for the Tigers.

And it isn't necessarily sweet because Soto never qualified for a World Series with LSU. Or that she helped eliminate the Tigers with a big weekend at the Baton Rouge Regional. Or ...

While this has been a team effort there is no doubt that Soto has had a great impact on this team and its success. And she seems to have fit right in and gelle dwith the team quickly. That isn't always the case with transferes, especially highly touted, talented transfers. I'm glad she chose to come to UL.

I think that after this season, considering where she came from, and how much of an impact Soto has had on this team, she should be considered for the UL Hall of Fame along with a few other softball players who go mostly ignored at UL.

Hammer I met her mom, and just from a few minutes I had with her you knew she would not be a chemistry problem. I suspect her numbers were down at the flagship because clearly there were issues that created personal stress. As the season went along she kept kept getting better and better on the field.

If given the chance UL is always a good choice. I cannot tell you how happy I was when she selected UL for her final year. Ms Soto mom said V A simply loves Louisiana, the state.

I am asking this for point of conversation and NOT to question Coaches Lotief and Lotief... because they know a hell of a lot more about softball than any of us...

now with all of that out of the way... why did Donna start in either game 2 or game 3 yesterday?

Adding to KingRob's accurate comment coach Lotief stated it had something to do with Houstons style of hitting, or approach to hitting.

    He did not elaborate..

That and the fact that Donna B. struggled against Houston earlier in the year and Cuevas no-hit Houston last season. Cuevas pitched very well in the end, but ran out of gas.
